Praying by ~WalkWitMeNow I lay me down to sleep*
Fortunate in slumber’s grip
No wondrous feats to mock my fate
Warmth and pleasant dreams await
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
Where frothy cataracts flow deep
Tormented but forever bound
To blithely sail but run aground
If I should die before I wake
And leave no promises to break
In hoarfrost scrawls just scribe my name
The sun will sublimate my fame
I pray the Lord my soul to take
In forest glade or mountain lake
To freely roam, alone and sober,
Clepsydra thief and dreamscape robber…
* based on a traditional children's prayer
